Donation and Fundraising FAQ's
To learn how you can help support and become a part of the exciting things going on at Minnetrista, contact Deborah Lindsey.

Q: Why does Minnetrista conduct an annual campaign?
A: During its first 14 years, Minnetrista was self-contained, meaning it did not need to look for outside funding. As Minnetrista's offerings expand and become more regional in scope, additional funding is necessary to sustain our growth.

Q: Why should I give Minnetrista money? A: Increased financial assistance will allow scholarship opportunities for needy students, reduced admission for school groups, support for educational programs and the potential to mount more elaborate exhibits.  Minnetrista has not yet reached its potential. As an organization, there are many areas we are only just beginning to explore: distance learning opportunities, collections-based exhibits and outreach.

Q: May I designate my contribution? A: Yes, we offer three areas to which one may direct their contribution: program area of greatest need; scholarships for underprivileged youth; school programs.  (These three areas are listed on the back of the campaign card.)

Q: I don't live in Delaware County. Why should I support you? A: Annual campaign funds allow school children from Delaware County and the six contiguous counties to visit Minnetrista at a reduced cost.  Guided school tours at Minnetrista are among the best in the state; children are not left on their own, but are guided through the facility by trained staff, making this an excellent interactive learning experience.  East Central Indiana has a unique shared heritage. We believe it is important to share that heritage with school children in the region. We are always looking for ways to expand programming and exhibits to support this effort. Contributions to the Friends of Minnetrista Annual Campaign assist us in making these connections.

Q: How is this different from membership in Minnetrista?
A: While a donation to Minnetrista does not come with the benefits of membership, it is tax deductible and can be designated to an area of interest. Annual campaign donations fund programs at Minnetrista, and allow us to reach even more people here in East Central Indiana.

Q: Is Minnetrista tax supported?A: No taxes were used to build Minnetrista and taxes DO NOT support daily operations. When appropriate, Minnetrista submits grant proposal requests to state and federal granting agencies.

Q: Is Minnetrista a part of Ball State University? A: No, but Minnetrista actively collaborates on projects with BSU and all other universities in the region.  These collaborations are project-based, not financially-based.

Q: Are the Ball family foundations withdrawing or reducing their support?
A: No, the Ball family foundations have pledged their ongoing support of Minnetrista even as we develop additional sources of funding.  Our view is that the healthiest non-profits have the most diversified funding base.

Q: Are you going to sell my name on a list to another organization when your campaign is over? A: No, Minnetrista does not sell its lists or distribute them to other organizations or individuals.

Q: Does my name have to be published in conjunction with my campaign contribution? A: You may request not to have your name printed. Just note it on the Annual Campaign Card.  Minnetrista will not print your name if you do not want it listed.  We respect your right to privacy.
