Position Title: Director of Operations
Reporting Department: Administration

Location: Minnetrista Cultural Center
Length of Appointment: Year round
Status:    Exempt-Full Time
PURPOSE:Direct the operations of Minnetrista's Support Services and Business Enterprises – facilities & grounds, information technology, retail shops, facility rentals & events, and food and hospitality. The Director of Operations ensures a high level of maintenance and quality control of the physical plant and campus and maintains all current technologies and plans for future needs. S/he oversees Minnetrista's business enterprises with an eye toward balancing revenue needs with the mission and vision. The Director of Operations is an engaged member of the institutional leadership team – participating in strategic and operational discussions and decisions that impact the institution.
     
QUALIFICATIONS: To be happy and successful in this position, an individual should have well-honed management and supervisory skills. S/he should have a clear understanding of the role of support services to our nonprofit mission, vision and values and be energized by working collaboratively with peers and colleagues throughout the organization and community.  
 
Additional Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
·         Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3 – 5 years experience in high-level management. 
·         Exceptional organizational/interpersonal/communication skills – oral and written. 
·         Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
·         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
·         Knowledge of current computer systems and applications associated with a PC environment.
·         Understanding of HVAC systems is beneficial.
·          A valid driver's license is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work collaboratively with other leadership and management staff to ensure integrated achievement of institutional goals and strategies.
    • Establish and maintain network with operating officers of similar institutions to exchange information.
    • Participate in and represent Minnetrista at professional and civic social events, conferences and seminars on a local, regional and national level.
    • Plan and execute annual budgets aligned with institutional strategic plan, for all areas of responsibility.
    • Technology
      • Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures for all electronic systems (computer, telephone, audio-visual). Manage related contract services.
      • Share supervision, with Marketing, of ITS Coordinator.
      • Purchase, lease and maintain all office machines.
    •  Facility/Property
      • Plan and direct the work of the facilities and grounds departments. 
      • Develop and implement annual and long-term maintenance and capital replacement plans aligned with the institutional strategic plan. 
      • Direct and manage all capital projects, including need assessment, budget process, implementation and follow through. 
      • Supervise related management positions.
      • Manage safety and emergency planning; OSHA compliance. 
    • Business Enterprises
      • Direct Sales & Events Department to ensure a positive Minnetrista Experience for guests while protecting physical assets. Ensure profitability levels for facilities leasing component.
      • Direct Food & Hospitality Department in providing internal and external catering services.  Ensure maintenance of Health Dept. license and timeliness and cleanliness of food operations.
      • Direct Retail Operations to ensure the retail shops are aligned with the institution's Mission and Vision and to insure adequate profitability levels.
    • Perform all other duties required.

Working Conditions Primarily a typical office environment with desk, computer, phone, files; however, must be able to move about the entire Minnetrista 40-acre campus.
