DIY Ball Jar Crafts

As Fall nears and our houses become hubs for holiday decorations, gift making, and family gatherings, we want to offer some creative ways to use Ball Jars in your home. After all, we are the home of the Ball jar!

DIY Spring Flowers

We’ve covered this more in-depth here, but this DIY project allows you to make your own flowers to display. Because you’ll be using tissue paper, you can protect them in a Ball jar and decorate it with some rocks at the bottom. This is perfect for a lonely shelf or as a unique, hand-crafted gift. Watch the video below for a full tutorial!

DIY Faerie Garden

Make the last jar craft magical by adding faeries, moss, and glitter! If your child is missing Faeries, Sprites, & Lights, this is the perfect activity to continue the FSL spirit! Gather inspiration by taking a trip to The Oakhurst Experience and exploring Oakhurst Gardens before you complete this one. Instead of purchasing a faerie figurine, all of you DIY pros can make your own with air-dry or oven-bake clay. Find the full directions for this craft in one of our previous blog posts here!

DIY Garden Terrarium

This Ball jar craft is living, so it will require extra care after it’s been created. A terrarium is a glass container filled with soil, plants, and sometimes insects that make a contained ecosystem. These are great for observing and learning (especially with kiddos), and they can be beautiful decorations for your home. Be sure to add activated charcoal if you want to close the lid! Find complete instructions in The Spruce blog here.

DIY Potpourri

Potpourri is a wonderful way to freshen up your space with natural scents. You don’t have to buy a special holder for them. Instead, use a Ball jar! You can safely store the potpourri with an open lid while allowing the scent to filter through. Did you know you can make your own potpourri? Create a unique scent by gathering your ingredients and dehydrating them yourself. When the scent is gone, compost them and reuse the glass jar!

DIY Snow Globe

How cute are these snow globes? This is a throwback from a blog post we published in 2017. We had to bring this one back for the upcoming holiday season because they’re so fun and easy to create. All you need are a few supplies and a little bit of creativity! Watch the video below for a full tutorial.

DIY Recipe Ball Jars

Recipe Ball Jars are great for gifting! Not only are you doing all of the prep work, but you're gifting someone with the Ball jar to reuse. Many of you have seen the hot chocolate, cookie, and cake mixes in the jar, but you can get creative with it and store any dry recipe you can think of! The Orchard Shop carries popcorn supplies and more that can easily be placed inside the jar. Purchase your Ball Jars there too! Be sure to spruce it up with ribbons and a gift tag after you seal the jar.

We hope you find these helpful! Whether you’re preserving some summer spirit or celebrating snow early, these Ball jar crafts are sure to brighten up your home. Tag us on social media if you try any of these. We’d love to see your creations!
