What’s in Store for 2024? A Year of Delight and Wonder!

We’re starting 2024 on a great note here at Minnetrista Museum & Gardens! First, we saw the closing of three excellent exhibitionsOpen SpaceTurtle Travels, and Brain: The World Inside Your Head, then quickly started working on the next round of installations. As noted in our last blogStoryland and Life on the Edge are our newest offerings, and we’re also in the midst of accepting submissions for the 34th Annual Minnetrista Juried Show. If you’re interested in showing your artwork, be sure to apply before the deadline on February 3rd!

We will host three new traveling exhibitions this spring and summer: Bird Photographer of the Year from May 12 through October 13, Young at Art from May 18 through August 18, and Knowing Nature: Stories of the Boreal Forest from June 29 through September 22. Bird Photographer, coming to us from England, will showcase 70-80 amazing photographs captured by talented artists around the world! Young at Art will highlight the mesmerizing illustrations in beloved children’s books. Knowing Nature, a Smithsonian exhibition, will teach us about climate change, indigenous perspectives on nature, and the relationship between people and nature. Knowing Nature and Life on the Edge are presented in English and Spanish.

In addition to these traveling exhibitions, the new exhibition team at Minnetrista is eager to prepare several original exhibits that will delight audiences of all ages. Step back in time with the Ball Stores to reminisce the wonders of the iconic store that served the Muncie and Marion communities for 50 years! The exhibition is based on the Ball Stores book written by Karen Vincent. Mark your calendars for this exciting exhibition coming this spring in the Heritage Gallery. Later, in 2024, Minnetrista will look at the practice of canning and how imperative it is during times of need, such as famine and conflicts, in Crisis Canning. And, of course, we always have the Bob Ross Experience and Oakhurst Experience available on the Boulevard.

Though the 2024 exhibition calendar is already exciting, we are equally as thrilled about the possible exhibitions planned for 2025, 2026, and 2027! It’s still too early to share those, but we think you will enjoy what we have planned for you. Stay tuned on our social media, and sign up for our email newsletter so you never miss an exhibition update!

We’re committed to serving the curiosity of our community! So we want to know what else you want to see. What brings you and your family to Minnetrista? Are there themes and topics we have not covered yet that you would like to explore or popular exhibitions you want to return to? Leave your suggestions or comments in the form below or email us at info@minnetrista.net.
