The world is full of stories about brave heroes, magical events, and fantastic beings. Tales of mythic creatures have been with us for thousands of years, sometimes inspired by living animals or even fossils. Together, mythic creatures give shape to humankind’s greatest hopes and fears, and most passionate dreams. Minnetrista is thrilled to be hosting Giants, Dragons and Unicorns: The world of Mythic Creatures, an exhibit from the American Museum of Natural History.
Dive to the depths with sea monsters, hear stories of mermaids, and see how fossils informed the tales of unicorns, griffins, and giants. Trace the development of dragons from culture to culture. This exhibit combines unique cultural objects, dramatic models, engaging multimedia, and interactive games to tell the origin stories behind the legends of mythical creatures from around the world.
Giants, Dragons, & Unicorns: The World of Mythic Creatures is organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York (amnh.org), in collaboration with the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney; Canadian Museum of History, Gatineau-Quebec; Fernbank Museum of National History, Atlanta; and The Field Museum, Chicago.
