Muncie, IN—Minnetrista Museum & Gardens, in partnership with Red-tail Land Conservancy, Delaware County Invasive Plant Project, Healthy Community Alliance Grow-a-Row Program, and the Master Gardeners of Delaware County, is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated Community Seed Swap & Giveaway, scheduled for March 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Now in its 7th year, the Seed Swap & Giveaway has become a community favorite. Each year, this event brings together local gardeners and nature enthusiasts to celebrate biodiversity and sustainable gardening practices. This year’s event will once again serve as a cornerstone of Minnetrista’s commitment to promoting environmental stewardship and fostering community engagement.

At the heart of the event is the opportunity for attendees to exchange seeds, including a diverse selection of native flowers and vegetables, all provided free of charge while supplies last. The act of swapping seeds not only promotes genetic diversity but also strengthens the resilience of local ecosystems against environmental challenges. While bringing seeds is optional, participants are encouraged to bring their clean and labeled heirloom seeds for swapping too.

"Planting a seed is an act of hope, nurturing a future of abundance—when we share seeds, we grow not just gardens, but a stronger, more connected community," says James Edwards, Director of Horticulture at Minnetrista.

In addition to the seed exchange, attendees will have the chance to participate in hands-on activities and engage with local nature and gardening organizations. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, the Seed Swap & Giveaway offers something for everyone—fostering learning, collaboration, and connection among like-minded individuals.

The event will coincide with the indoor Farmers Market at Minnetrista on March 15, from 9 a.m.–noon, held in the Center Building, with ample parking available in the main lot for attendees' convenience.

Join us for a morning of sharing, learning, and growing as we sow the seeds of sustainability and cultivate a vibrant, greener community for future generations.
